West Texas Camps & Retreats exists because Wayne and Penny Davis did that searching — and they know exactly what it feels like to come up empty.
Wayne & Penny Davis
Wayne and Penny are the parents of a child with autism. For years they worked alongside special needs campers and families in camp ministry — seeing firsthand both the profound impact a camp experience can have, and how rarely it’s designed to include children like theirs.
They didn’t build this organization from the outside looking in. They built it out of love — for their child, and for every family still searching for what they couldn’t find.

Our Mission
West Texas Camps and Retreats exists to provide a Christ-centered, barrier-free camp experience for individuals of all abilities and their families.
Our Vision
We envision a camp that enriches the lives of everyone, regardless of their abilities, by fostering genuine friendships, love for one another, and respect for all.
We aspire to be a constant source of strength and encouragement for families and caretakers as they navigate life’s challenges.

Our Long-Term Vision
2026 is our inaugural year — and we are just getting started. Our long-term goal is to build a dedicated special needs camp facility in the Lubbock area: a permanent home where every child with special needs can belong at camp, every summer, for generations to come.
