West Texas Camps and Retreats is a vison to build and develop a Christ-Centered camp for people of all abilities and their families.
This vision is born out of our core belief that all individuals, regardless of their abilities, should be able to attend camp, participate in all activities, and experience unconditional love.
Camp Begins With A Vision
West Texas Camps and Retreats is a vision of Founders Wayne and Penny Davis who began working with visually impaired children at camp. It was a life-changing experience. Since that time, they have provided camp for individuals with down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, hearing impaired, mobility challenges and many more.
Wayne and Penny along with other camp leaders see the need for a specially designed camp everyone can attend, regardless of their abilities. The property shown is our prospective future home for West Texas Camps and Retreats. The lodges, conference buildings, dining facilities and recreation activities will be barrier-free, accessible to all and achievable to everyone.

The Campers
We are in the initial phase of designing a camp experience where children, youth, and adults with disabilities will be able to attend a traditional summer camp or retreat adapted to their individual abilities. Our goal is to partner each camper with a volunteer buddy who will provide assistance as needed.
We also want families to have the opportunity to attend a camp or retreat together where they can bond with other families who understand both the successes and challenges of family life.
Our organization has worked with Wayne and Penny over the last several years and have always found them to be amazing partners in providing quality services to our campers with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Their attention to detail and caring nature combined for a great experience where our individuals feel safe and know they are going to have a great time at camp!

The Volunteers
Volunteers ages 16 and up will have the opportunity to assist campers with a range of activities. They will be responsible for making sure the campers are at the correct activities and locations.
